The Bark River Kephart 5 inch is based on the original 4 inch blade version of this famous knife of the same name that was offered by the only firm that ever made a production version of the knife in the early 1900s. Colclesser offered this longer bladed version in addition to the standard 4 inch model that most of us are familiar with. The Kephart spear point design is the basis for the modern bushcraft knife that has become the world standard in wilderness living pattern knives. This 2017 version has been upgraded to Crucible CPM-4V super tool steel for its added toughness and edge holding. Bark River Knives also made this version in thinner stock – like Kephart’s original design which reduced the overall weight of the knife by almost two ounces. With the upgrade in steel and the faster and lighter feeling in the hand, this will prove to be the ultimate recreation of one of America's original outdoor knives.
