Read Reviews | Write a ReviewThis spear is a heavy, large, extremely sharp LETHAL weapon. The only difference between this and the Boar spear, is that the Boar spear has stoppers protruding from the base of the blade.
It came so sharp that the lightest tap will result in a deep gash. It is no wall hanger display it is a fearsome hunting tool. Go look at the videos on Cold Steel's website, where the demonstrator is throwing these spears into a car door and not a dent or scuff on the blade! These are SK-5 Medium Carbon steel, they are tough and will stand up to a lot of abuse.
The ash pole it comes with has a brown stained finish.
The balance is just right and it throws well when you put some muscle and body english into it.
Overall, this is a 5 star spear and well worth the low price.

The original Assegai was invented by the legendary Zulu King, Shaka in the early 1800's. Its long, broad blade and short handle were ideal for thrusting and revolutionized tribal warfare in Southern Africa. Our Assegai has all the features that made the original so deadly. The blade is 13-1/2" long and 2-1/2" wide and extremely sharp. It is available with a two foot long shaft for thrusting or a full length throwing shaft. Both shafts are made in premium American Ash.

Spear head came razor sharp out of the box!!! Only issues are the top of the shaft had to me cut down by about 4 inches and sanded heavily inorder for the spear head to fit like a glove. I would not recommend using the factory screws it came with. I used a slightll larger wood screw and pre drilled the holes. After a little stain on the wood it looks like a bona fied lion slayer!
