Colonel Conk Bay Rum Shave Soap (3.15 oz. Super Size Bar) CC145

Gave me a very pleasant first-time shave this morning with plenty of nice smelling lather and a smooth barrier between face and blade. For a low-cost soap it performed great.

I started using double edge razor last Christmas when I was given a nice Merkur Futur, a sampler of Merkur blades, stand, bowl, brush, and a puck of the Col.Conk's Bay Rum soap. I have never looked back! I now have no ingrown hairs, fewer bumps, less burn, better glide and a GREAT smell. I've used both the Bay Rum and the Lime. While I like them both, I prefer the Bay Rum. It goes best with the Colonel Conks Bay Rum aftershave which I use after shaving.

The trick to getting the best really dense lather that won't dry on your face is to use less water than you think you should while whipping with your brush. I wet my brush and then whip it in the bowl for 20 seconds. I find using a series of small circles on my face to apply the soap helps my beard stand up properly. The glide I get from this soap is AMAZING and it doesn't leave you feeling overly tight and chemical laden like that junk in a can. A puck will last for months and smells just as good when finished as when it was opened. Maybe I got lucky, but I don't feel a need to shop for other brands anymore!

I have used other soaps for shaving, and they've left something to be desired, whether it was lubrication, scent or moisturizing. When I tried Col. Conk Bay Rum Soap, I was blown away.

The first thing I noticed was the scent, which is great. I can't stop smelling it even when I go to my sink I pickup my shaving mug and smell it.... It has a manly island smell with a slight spice scent. Then I lathered up and tried it while shaving with my Merkur Futur DE shaving razor. I load my brush up pretty good and get a good lather going in the mug but then I really work it up on my face, the lather is nice and thick. When shaving It lubricates very well and gives me a much smoother shave than the soap I was using before. It rinses off well, too, but leaves behind a hint of the scent, which I love. It also leaves my face feeling smooth and soft. I finish off with a splash of Colonel Conk after shave and I'm set for the day. This soap gets perfect marks in all categories, I highly recommend trying it!

Great Shaving Soap! I am one of those dinosaurs that uses a shaving cup and brush to work up a good lather. This is very important to me as I am very fair complected, and using a razor will irritate my skin, especially if I am wearing a tie, or it is a very hot or blustery day.
Col. Conks Bay Rum soap makes a creamy very aromatic lather which makes shaving a dream.
The price is right, and it works as well or better than any other shave soap I have used.
