Sharpening Instructions:
First, coat the Silicon Carbide Grinding Wheel with the reddish-yellow conditioning grease, then use The Grinding Wheel to create a burr on the tool.
Next, add some white buffing compound to the Slotted Wheel and use it to polish the burr off.
This process provides a polished razor’s edge at any angle up to 50°. The kit has enough extra grit to re-coat the wheel about 3 times. It usually sharpens 100 to 300 blades before resurfacing is needed.

It gets my knives just as sharp as if I spent hours with my stones and strops just does it in a whole lot less time.

This product is amazing. I did my entire Arsenal, which consists of about 4 axes and 10 hatchets plus a few machetes, all in about 20 mins! Every one of them razor sharp you could shave with it. Takes a few tries to get a steady rhythm down but not long at all. I%u2019ll never buy a sharpening stone again.

The product is just what was expected. The disks were well balanced and centered. At half the price of competing products I feel they were a good value. (Sure you can make them but time is money.) I have not had a lot of success sharpening knives to razor sharpness as easily as they do on youtube. I have also added a speed controller to my buffer to reduce the RPM and keep the heat down. I hope to get the desired results with more practice.

This method sharpens like crazy. EDC and Kitchen knives put on the wheel, honed down to shaving ability within just a few minutes on a dull knife, just a minute on sharp knives. I personally like different compounds than the ones in the package, but this value is excellent for the money compared to similar products.

Ive NEVER before been able to make my knives scary razor sharp, and Ive been trying different systems for over 60 years. Watch a YouTube video and believe it%u2019s even easier than shown. Dont overdo the grinder step. Its the strop step that makes this so functional and thats the part Ive been missing. Super easy, unbelievably fast, and I can actually shave with every knife I sharpen on it.
Anyone want to buy a collection of no-longer needed sharpening stones and rods? Nothing else even came close to the ease and capability of this.
I mounted these on a $39 six inch grinder from a big-box store-thats all thats needed.
Wish I had bought this years ago!

Still using it to bring all our pocket knives and kitchen knives to an edge we can shave with. I have only been doing this for a year now and I can bring ANY knife to scary sharp, easy to shave with in less than 2 minutes. It is so sharp it will cut ya just looking at it!!!

Charlies Wheel Sharpening Kit really works and using it I now have the sharpest knifes I have ever had. Takes a short time to get used to holding the blade at the correct angle but I had it down after practicing with an old knife.
Don't over tighten the clamping nuts on your grinder as it will warp the wheels.
I will buy it again, very happy with this kit.

Sharpens my knives extremely fast and easy. I believe it is the best sharpening tool out there for knives.

I have only been using these for a short time and I am already getting great results. I look forward to becoming a pro at these.

I love these sharpening wheels. I went on a sharpening spree and sharpened all of my knives (I have many) in about an hour. Now each knife is hair shaving sharp. This is the only way to go if you want a quick and easy way to keep your knives razor sharp. Thanks OGK for the great service.

Not many people are into sharpening knives to be razor sharp, the reason is because the traditional method (whetstones) take far too much time. In fact, it takes so long that most people become disheartened to precision sharpening. For a very rough comparison of sharpening time: 20-30 mins with a stone is equal to 1 min with these monsters, and with harder steel, such as D2: 40 mins on stones ~= 1 min with wheels. I can not over-state how great these are.
I spent 3 hours attempting to set an edge on a D2 steel knife with diamond files and stones. It looked great, but it was never truly sharp. Within 5 mins with these wheels, it was my sharpest knife that I own.
Advantages (over traditional methods):
Speed
Convex/ appleseed edges are stronger and will hold an edge for longer.
Much more forgiving than a stone.

I've used these wheels for years. Fantastic product.
OGK Customer on 10/24/2017 10:24am
These wheels work well. The first wheel grinds an edge, then the second wheel polishes that edge to a high level of sharpness. There is a technique to doing this. you must hold the knife at the correct angle (instructions are included) and grind the whole length of the knife at that angle. Then spin it around and do the other side. Once you are happy with the grinding you move on to polishing. Polishing is the same as grinding in regards to knife angle and technique. Practice on a few older knives to get the technique before you start on your really good cutlery. And be careful, the wheel spins fast and you do have a knife in your hands. Banging it into the wheel could send the knife flying.

Very easy to learn to use, great to have sharp knives again, the wife loves it even more, sharp, sharp, sharp.

I had to practice to get the hang of it but once I figured it out it was easy. Now I can very quickly get extremely sharp edges on all of my knives and on our family's kitchen knives. I am very pleased with the purchase. I have successfully sharpened about 3 dozen knives, several with long blades over 8" and still there is no sign of losing effectiveness on the gritted wheel.

If you want razor sharp knives, this is the easiest way to do it. I won't use anything else.

Wow. If the more expensive Razor Sharp wheels work better, I'd lose a finger. These rock. five minute learning curve.
Ed Skutshek on 04/07/2016 10:15am
I recieved this paper wheel sharpening kit for Christmas, Installed it on my grinder to give it a try. Some friends had said it worked great for them But you know one's a fisherman and they keep their knifes sharp with stones I guess Anyhow after the first knife I had the angle down flat and within an hour every knife in my house was razor sharp I mean shaving paper off an 1/8 of an inch at a time. I'm ordering a couple more to send to my brothers. It's great I mean razor sharp!!!! And easy like 2 minutes a knife.
Todd Morrison on 10/29/2015 12:56pm
Sharp as a razor! Well worth the money, best sharpening wheels I have ever used.
Nick Portella on 04/06/2015 02:20pm
These paper wheels work well on most grinders to sharpen virtually any edged tools and all kinds of knives. The gritted wheel is simple to use--at least until you have to replace the grit. Then it takes a bit of practice. (Watch a few youtube videos first.) The slotted wheel is very good for the final polish. It's like a paper strop. However, because it's slotted, if the knife is held against the wheel with the rotation in the wrong direction, the blade will catch in the slots and snap the blade off. When the blade is snapped off, the wheel will hurl it across the room. The lesson here is make sure every time the blade touches the wheel the orientation is correct. Paper wheels are easy to damage. Minor damage can be sanded off and the wheel redressed. I like paper wheels because they are an inexpensive way to sharpen a knife far better than pull through sharpeners, and they work almost as well as the Japanese water wheels and leather strop wheels.

I have always done all my sharpening by hand using Arkansas stones; a grinding wheel was used only when a completely re-cut edge was needed. These wheels literally can make almost any blade razor sharp. The best part is that because of the hard paper wheels, it is really difficult to damage a blade, unlike a stone grinding wheel. I was reluctant to mount 8 inch wheels on a 6 inch grinder, but it works perfectly, allowing the extra space needed for a large knife.
