The Cold Steel line of Training Swords, Training Knives and Training Hatchets are made of heaviest grade polypropylene available and closely duplicate a weapons in length, size, weight and feel. While they're not quite as rigid as wood, they have the winning advantages of being virtually unbreakable, remarkably stiff and cut resistant. To top it off, they're low in price and impervious to the elements.

Fits the dimensions so makes for a good trainer. A little lighter than the steel version, but that is to be expected. It also allows you to build up muscle and speed so when you start doing forms with the real thing you have more control. A lot safer (but still be careful) to be swinging around for those impromptu moments when you just want to pick up something and play with it. I mean, practice with it.
Its slightly more flexible than other cold steel trainers but hey, it's still sturdy and an overall great axe trainer. I do hope one day that cold steel would make other axe trainers like viking hand axe, Dane axe, or traditional tomahawks. But for now, this axe trainer is sufficient.
