This Morakniv Basic 511 knife has a red polymer handle that feels comfortable in the hand with a finger guard for optimal safety. The blade is the perfect size for most all cutting tasks you may encounter and for EDC use. The knife blade steel is hardened in Sweden to their exact specifications. The blade is made of high-quality carbon steel that is easy to resharpen in the field or at home. A word of caution, carbon steel can be affected by moisture and corrosive environments, therefore, you will want to get in the habit of wiping off the knife and use oil on the blade after each use. The included plastic sheath has a water drain hole and belt clip for convenient storage and carry.

Outstanding value in a knife of this type. I got the orange so it would be easy to see when dropped on the ground or on the deck of the boat (that will be the primary use for this knife, as a bait/utility knife on my boat) and got a phenomenal steel and good grip as a bonus. The sheath is adequate, nothing particularly special, but does the job just fine. The knife feels balanced in your hand, is easy to work with, and is just the right size to be useful but not unwieldy. for the price, you CANNOT BEAT these knives. Comes sharp, stays sharp. Easy to hone when the time comes, and holds an edge notably well. Highly recommended.

What can I say, I love this thing. Bought it mostly as a camp knife buy have wound up carrying it quite often for everyday use. The size is great for my kids and I to do small carving projects on the back porch, yet large enough for an adult to use comfortably as well. Lightweight and easy to sharpen. This is the knife that I will recommend to any one wanting a budget survival knife.

I'm hard on knives and this one is no exception. That said I'm impressed by its strength, edge retention, ease of sharpening, and light weight. It does have a few spots of rust where the blade meets the grip, but considering its carbon steel, that can be expected over time and use.

Perfect all around fixed blade... does it all. Whittling, batoning, skinning, gutting, crafting, ease of carry, ease of sharpening... the thing gets just wicked sharp on a Spyderco Sharpmaker....I praise it far and wide and it's my go-to truck knife and camp/hunt blade.....absolutely do not need a higher priced knife.

One of the BEST knives I have ever bought. I actually got one of these last year for my son and because of that I bought one for myself. I got the knife just before hunting season this year, I actually got it the weekend before I shot my deer. I used this knife to butcher the entire deer and it held the edge through the whole process. People love these knives for a reason. They are great, get one!

These Morakniv knives are great not just for the money, but simply great knives. I just recently discovered them and I have to say, I am a fan! I do find that I use mine more because it's cheap and I don't mind doing things with it that I wouldn't really want to try with my expensive knives. I have ordered several different variants and this one here is one of my favorites for backpacking or camping because of it's light weight. It is carbon steel, so it probably won't be shiny forever, but man does it hold an edge! Just buy it, you can't go wrong. Be sure and set some money aside for more though, because you will probably decide that one is just not enough.

This is the best knife in the world for general duty tasks. It is sharp out of the box but after you polish and hone the blade ,it is a true woodworking masterpiece.
