This is small enough to affix to inside my waistband, inside my boot/sock, behind my belt, etc. where a pat down is likely to miss. This isnt something that you will wield quickly nor will you scare an assailant. If you have to use it on a person, hit them and run.
Make a fist and hold it with your first two fingers then support it with your thumb and it becomes an awesome punching/slashing weapon. Even if it did slip and cut my hand after it made contact, which I don't think it will, your target is going be shocked so RUN away.
The sheath for both of the knives I ordered is secure without any problems. Im not worried at all about latching this thing inside my waist band.

The KA-BAR TDI Last Ditch Knife features single piece 9Cr18 stainless steel construction with a Rockwell hardness of 58-59, and an all over non reflective black powder coat finish. The 1.875" modified Wharncliffe blade has a curved skeletonized handle area with texture notches for secure grip and a finger hole. A black hard plastic friction sheath with multiple lashing holes, and a black 550 cord lanyard are included. Overall length of 3.625". Weight: 0.80 ounces.

Great little self defense backup knife. It's small, durable, functional and versatile for carrying.
I really like this knife, it snaps securely into hard plastic case. It is fantastic for a neck knife to cut seatbelts, etc. When not wearing it I leave it hanging over my steering wheel always at the ready. This knife may be very useful in a close, locked or pinned position. I wear it out of sight with a break away strap connected directly to the larger hole. Pinned down, this could save your live against a violent criminal. The sheath can be laced in boots. Last ditch is a good description.
