The Cold Steel Voyagers are, ounce for ounce, one of the strongest folders on the market. And this is a fact, not an idle boast. Each knife features precision made parts with a stiff spring and the incomparable Tri-Ad lock mechanism which is arguably the strongest, most reliable, low maintenance lock in the world!

The thick, extra wide blades are made from Japanese AUS-10A stainless steel and meticulously ground to a thin edge for maximum shearing potential. This thin edge also allows the blade to be honed to astounding sharpness. And, because of the high carbon content of the steel, and their near perfect heat treatment, you'll find this sharpness last a surprisingly long time.

The Voyager Series also offers all the other latest refinements in lockback construction including lightning quick, one-handed opening, state-of-the-art mechanical fasteners, massively oversized pivot pins that are fully adjustable and properly hardened, and dual stainless steel pocket clips for ambidextrous carry and deployment.

The Griv-Ex handles feature 6061 heat treated aluminum liners for the utmost in strength and stiffness and are ergonomically designed to afford a wide array of grip options including the palm reinforced forward grip for which they are particularly well suited.

Griv-Ex is unparalleled as a handle material as it is considerably stronger than Zy-Ex and, when deeply textured, offers a terrific non-slip grip. As an added bonus, it's impervious to moisture and won't crack, warp or shrink and remains remarkably resistant to abrasion or discoloration.

As tools these lightweight, super sharp knives are appropriate in almost any environment from hunting and camping to hiking and general utility chores. They can also readily fill specialty functions such as a boat or river knife, chute knife or police/military and survival/rescue applications.

This is my 4th Cold Steel knife, all voyagers. I have a 15 year old XL Tanto point serrated that I have used for everything and it is as good as new. With the new design I bought an XL tanto point serrated last year and the redesign was so good I bought a Large tanto point plain to slice into boxes etc.

The new design is fantastic other than the belt clip which I fixed with vice grips. This is not only the best deal in knives, it may the best deal for anything.

Cold Steel Voyager series: among folding knives, in the top class for value for money. Great steel (now AUS10 in recent years), great grinds (such as FFG for the clip point), great lockback (Tri-Ad aka Triad lock), great ergos on the handle, great grip on the handle, easy to disassemble and reassemble. The Voyager series actually outshines most other knives in value for money, although it doesn't always get enough credit because it's not an overpriced luxury knife (which makes people drool) and it's not a fidget toy (if you need a knife that's a fidget toy, look into flippers with liner locks instead of Triad-lock tactical knives). The Voyager Large Clip Point 4-inch is my current EDC because it's the biggest and best knife I have found that meets certain requirements: great all-around utility via FFG, not too huge for pocket carry, not too scary to even think of using when non-knife-people are looking, and very affordable compared to its competition (for example, Recon1 costs more but is not necessarily any better, from many viewpoints; Code4 is less grippy and offers no FFG and costs more; many other competitors cost substantially more). Bottom line, great knife series. If you want confirmation then search for Cold Steel Voyager on YouTube and watch reviews from various well-informed knife people/reviewers who consistently praise this knife series.
