For the money, the Bushman® knives might be the strongest survival/outdoor knives in the world! Unlike most hollow handled survival knives, there is no joint or seam between the blades and handles that requires a mechanical fastener. Instead, the Bushman's® blades and integral handles are each expertly cold forged out of a single piece of 2.5mm thick SK-5 high carbon steel. The resulting knives are expertly heat-treated and tempered to RC54 and, when subjected to our tests, have withstood over two tons of pressure on their blade/handle transition!

Every Bushman® blade has been carefully ground to an extra thin edge, and then honed and buffed by hand until razor sharp. The Bushman® knives are versatile too! Their hollow handles will accept survival supplies or a variety of handle extensions which can maximize reach, leverage or ease of throwing. They are available in two blade styles (standard and our new Bowie point). Both feature continuously curved blades that are ideal for skinning, and will pierce, cut, slash, slice and shear like you won't believe.

They both come complete with our new heavy duty Secure-Ex sheath with a Ferrocerium Fire Steel included.

The Cold Steel Bushman Knife features single piece cold forged SK-5 carbon steel construction, 2.5mm thick, with a Rockwell hardness of 54. The Bushman has a 7" clip point bowie fixed blade area with non reflective black finish and Bushman logo; and a hollow handle area with lanyard hole that provides easy storage for small survival supplies, or a variety of handle extensions which can maximize reach, leverage or throwing ease. A heavy duty Secure-Ex sheath with a Ferrocerium Fire Steel included.

Awesome cheap way to make a spear- 1 screw (not included) and a broom handle(not included) and you have a spear!

For the price, it functions well. Tempering seems to have been done well on mine as blade is still sharp without chipping after cutting through several cutting mats.

For the price, it is very well made and versatile, you can abuse it as a tool of hard use.

I was looking to make a spear/hiking staff and have been a collector of Cold Steel knives for years. When I decided to get it, I chose the Bowie style. To use as a Bush craft knife would be great too although I did take note of my hand wanting to slip down the grip when used to stab a block of wood. Its use as a spearhead is amazing, I fitted it to a 5 ft. x 1.25" hardwood pole and added a rubber crutch tip. It's easy if you have a belt sander to taper fit it to the pole. The blade came sharp enough to shave hair on my arm and appears very robust and seems even sharper after power stropping. Sheath is ok and snaps on with good retention with ferro rod as a nice added feature just be aware that using it as a walking staff, the ferro rod faces downward and may become dislodged from sheath so use the hole in its handle to tie it secure.

I own two of these knives. I live in Alaska and the environment is hard, and the weather is not always what I would like it to be. I beat these Bushman very hard. They maintain a great edge, I have used one of them to dress out a moose with no issues. Forget the spear business, I believe the spear would be ok for defense with humans, but in Alaska, I have no intensions of fighting off a grizzly with a spear. However as a woods work tool, this is a great knife. Just a hint here, braid some Jute cord and stuff it into handle, fill both ends of handle with melted Bees wax. If an emergency fire is need, remove wax plug, shred jute cord into tinder and light. The wax will keep it burning a long while. definitely long enough to get a campfire going.

Can't beat a Cold Steel. I can seem to beat it up and for the price I don't care. I have a $200 knife and don't even want to take it out lol. But this one performs well, I love it. I even made it into a spear and threw it a few times. The tip seems to do well.

I bought this to use as spear head on a six foot pole. I was concerned it might not be sturdy enough. I was pleasantly surprised by how tough, yet light it is. It works perfectly for what I wanted. I can see this would be a great survival knife as well.

I got one about ten years ago. Actually a great knife and a real bargain price. No handle to break, rot, or split. Probably the most overlooked knife out there for general duty camping or survival.
