Our Price:
The troops serving in modern day battlefields are more heavily equipped than ever. Innovations in rigging and materials, coupled with many new wonderful gadgets and tools mean virtually every inch of real estate in a soldier's kit needs to be carefully considered. Our Chaos series fixed blades aim to fill some of that precious space with a truly impressive combat knife.
Taking inspiration from the classic "Trench Knives" from both World Wars of the last century, we have developed a tactical fixed blade that is suitable for today's modern day warriors.
The unique "D" ring guard is made from reinforced 6061 aluminum allowing for an incredibly secure and comfortable grip while protecting the hand both from incoming attack and damage while striking or cutting an opponent who's covered in body armor, ammo, flashlights, magazines and gear!
The thick 1055 carbon steel pommel is tapered for ferocious Punyo or Butt-Strikes, and the 7 1/2 inch SK-5 high carbon blade is available in either Double Edge or Tanto blade shapes. Additionally, the Chaos series is coated in black Tuff-Ex™, aiding corrosion resistance and enhancing cutting power by reducing friction.
They come complete with a tough Secure-Ex sheath, which features a belt loop for dependable, versatile carry.

Cold Steel great design for this multi-weapon is for every bugout, pop smoke, CHAOS situation! Highly recommended!
While this knife is nowhere close in fit and finish to say, my Model 14 Randall, it is a very rugged, well made, and affordable knife that nearly anyone can afford to carry without worrying about losing it, having it stolen, or damaging it. The latter of which I cannot image you will be able to do short of using this knife as a target for your trusty .338 Lapua magnum.
THIS IS A FULL TANG KNIFE and the blade runs the full length of the handle from the quillions to the pummel.
The Cold Steel Chaos comes in two models, the Chaos 80NT which has a single edged Tanto blade, and the Chaos 80NTP which has double edged spear tip blade. This is a review of the double edged Chaos 80NTP. However both models include the same Secure Ex sheath and both knife also have a 7.5 inch, SK-5 High Carbon, full tang blade that extends the entire length of the knife.
The Cold Steel 80NTP Chaos has a high quality, thick, thick full tang, 7.5 inch spear point blade made of Cold Steel's SK-5 High Carbon steel. It is sharpened at approximately a 20 degree angle and the blade is exceedingly sharp right out of the box. However if, like me, you should decide to put it to the stone anyway , you will find that the blade quickly takes a razor sharp hone that you will easily be able to shave with. The blade is coated with Cold Steel's preparatory, black, Tuff-Ex coating that reduces friction and which the manufacturer claims reduces the effort needed for cutting and stabbing.
The Chaos has a very heavy, 6" "knuckle duster" handle which is made of 6061 Aluminum. Two allen screws pass through the tang and handle firmly attaching it to the blade. The back of the handle has a very usable, tapered, "skull crusher" pommel which is made of 1055 carbon steel and which is a weapon in its own respect.
The Chaos comes with a Secure Ex sheath which I have some mixed emotions about. The sheath has a nylon belt loop that is large enough to fit over a military cartridge belt (just barely) and the outside edge of the sheath contains 12 different attachment points (4 one and a half inch slots and 8 quarter inch 550 cord size holes). One of the features that I really like about this sheath is that the belt loop attachment has a snap that allows you to put the sheath onto your belt without having to take your belt off. If you have ever had to remove all your gear and your belt just to put on a sheath or holster you already know what a pain in the ass that is.
For the average user this sheath is more than just fine. However, if you are active duty, going into a combat zone, or plan on carrying this knife inverted on a chest harness or on your Mole gear, there are a few things that you might consider a bit negative. The first being, since this sheath is made of a hard plastic material, it is very loud makes a huge amount of noise if it bangs against any other gear. This of course can be corrected with a bit of electrical tape and properly checking your gear in advance.
However more importantly, even though at first glance this sheath appears ambidextrous, in actuality it is not. If you wear this sheath upside down, on say an H harness, and you put the knife into the sheath with the handle facing in the wrong direction, without also using he secondary nylon strap to secure the knife, the knife will click into place making you think it is secure BUT with even a small bit of physical activity it will fall out of the sheath and it will either become lost or, even worse, cause you serious bodily harm. If I were going on another deployment to a combat zone and my life was going to depend on this knife, I believe I would invest in a good leather sheath rather than use the Secure Ex sheath that comes with the Chaos.
Anyway, except for a couple of very minor shortcomings with the sheath this is one completely outstanding, and affordable knife. If you are looking for a replica of a 1917 trench knife this is not your knife. However, if you are looking for a high quality, and rugged modern update of a combat ready knuckle knife, this knife will do the job and also last you a lifetime.
In my honest opinion you simply can not go wrong with the Cold Steel 80NTP Chaos.

The Cold Steel Chaos is a combat knife made along the lines as the old WWI and WWII treach knives. Like most Cold Steel knives this knife is all business, all the way from the 6060 aluminum D guard to the 1055 carbon steel pommel. I have the SK-5 high carbon steel double edged blade; you can also get it in a tanto blade if you like. For me more cutting edges more possibilities in a combat setting.
If you are like me blade steels can be very confusing so what is SK-5 and is it any good?
The SK-5 high carbon steel blade is of the highest quality for making blades. It is the Japanese equivalent to American 1080. SK-5 high carbon steel gives a knife the ability to cut through practically anything and hold an edge while doing it. Also the chaos comes with a coated black Tuff-Ex blade that helps with corrosion, and reducing friction for a while, it comes off with use so keep the blade coated with a light coat of oil. Comes with a Secure-Ex sheath which gives the user many options for deployment.
So do I like it; sure for what it is, a straight up hand to hand combat trench knife, it will do the job well. Problems; it is large and heavy 17 oz. and it is pretty much a one trick pony, but hey I did not buy it for an all-purpose field tool I brought it for what it is... a BAD ASS 21st century trench knife, and one last thing try to beat the price for what you get, good luck with that.
Very solid feeling knife.and handle.
The sheath is of very high quality.
I highly recommend this product.
This is the 2nd Dragon I've ordered from OGK, and they never cease to impress me with their low prices, a website that's easy-to-navigate through, and their follow-through with each order.
