Baseplate Compasses

Baseplate compasses are great all-around hiking and travel compasses. Their usual translucent baseplates makes them great for map use. More expensive models usually have slightly larger capsules with longer needles which improve the readability and accuracy of the compass and also may have special features like adjustable declination, map scales, a magnifying lens, luminous points, cut-outs for map marking, and even a global needle.
